CELEBRATING 50 YEARS
LOOKING AT OUR PAST HISTORY
Since its founding in 1960, Husky Farm Equipment Limited has been a
leader in the design and production of manure handling equipment throughout
the world. Raymond Grose, the president, originally founded the company
known as Grose Welding Limited.
From the first attempt to manufacture
with a small welder and a blacksmith drill in a horse stall, with Ruth
managing the books and feeding up to 4 employees for lunch, she became a
partner in the dream. The farm land that Husky is located on evolved from
milking a few cows, to feeding fat cattle to manufacturing.
The name was changed in
1978 to "Husky Farm Equipment Limited" In 50 years the
company has been involved in making Agitators,
Truck Mount Tankers, Liquid Manure Spreaders, Liquid Manure Pumps,
Grader Blades, Bale Elevators, Feed Carts, Farrowing Crates, Barn Cleaner
Elevators, Barn Cleaner Replacement Chain, Snow Throwers, Snow Blowers, Cow
Stalls, Hog Pens
and has represented several other manufacturers of farm and barn equipment. Ray saw a
potential of handling manure in a liquid form and so from this came the
start of a growing business in making Liquid Manure Equipment. After the
equipment was built the search was on for a customers place to try it out.
The place was found near Elmira where a farmer was using an auger to take
liquid manure out of an underground tank , Ray hauled out the manure, the
farmer said “I don’t know what you want for that but I’ll buy it”, the
equipment was sold and the business was moving on. The first drawings were
very little more than sketches, Some customers arrived at the office with an
order for cow stalls or hog penning and the drawings would be sketched on a
piece of plywood, gradually the equipment was standardized, drafting made
parts books became more available.
Husky is now owned
by Gordon & Walter Grose. Husky has a goal to offer quality equipment and
fast service, and our staff is dedicated to that goal. Shipping equipment to
markets in Porta Richo, Russia, USA and Canada, after 50 years Husky feels
blessed to have a wonderful farming family and the pleasure of dealing with
people passionate about agricultural Although change in the industry has
been constant , one thing has never changed, the Company's commitment to
quality and performance, this philosophy has driven the Company for fifty
years.
